Day 1: The first day of the last year of high school

Location: Barriere, 2°C (tomatoes are shivering on the vine), 9 am, Blue sky

Daily Goal: Invite Shyanne for lunch and toast the first day of the last year of high school. Just think, no more bus schedules. No more parent/teacher interviews. No more curfews to monitor... leadership projects... money for hot lunches... locks... lockers... gym strip... field trips... yearbooks... library late fees... foods class fees... woodworking fees... grad fundraisers to organize... the gown, the shoes, the hair, the nails... the date, the photos, the party... Oh, the horror! No more running to the school to deliver forgotten homework that just has to be handed in or it means a fail. "A fail, Mom! You just have to do it for me. Pleeeease. I promise, it will never happen again." It's so close I can almost taste it. So close, I can already hear the little wings flapping as the last one flies the coop leaving us with an "empty nest". So close I just may scale the rock face across the street from my house, kick up my heels and shout, "HALLELUJAH!" from its peak. Just think of the sound it would make as it echoed over the valley and bounced off the primary school, and the elementary school... and the high school.
Trials & Tribulations: Pardon me, I seem to get carried away at the slightest provocation.

Successes:
Contained my glee to a glass of iced tea. Will save the bubbly for the actual graduation ceremonies. After all, it is only Day 1.

Failures:
Who am I kidding? I am headed for University tuition fees... books that cost $300 each (used)... rent... furnishing at minimum, a dorm... and a 45 minute commute when I hear, "A fail, Mom! You just have to do it for me. Pleeeease. I promise, it will never happen again."
